so you don’t have to navigate complex systems and barriers alone

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed or scared
you’re not alone.
Trying to find the right support for an adult with intellectual or developmental disabilities can feel exhausting especially when you’re juggling phone calls, paperwork, waitlists, and unanswered questions.
Maybe you've wondered:
-
Who can I trust to care for my loved one?
-
Will they be safe and treated with dignity?
-
Will they be able to make friends?
-
What chances will they have to build real skills?
-
What happens when I’m not around someday?
You shouldn’t have to fight to find safe, dignified support for your loved one.
At The Arc of McLennan County, we understand how overwhelming this process can feel, and we’ve helped families find the right support for decades. We know this isn’t just about finding a program, it’s about making sure your loved one is safe, included, and given the chance to live a meaningful life in their community.
We help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities build independence through structured day programs, life skills training, and meaningful community activities. We create opportunities for connection, routine, and personal growth, so individuals can gain confidence and families can feel peace of mind.

Programs at The Arc
The Opportunity Center:

Heart of Texas Self Advocates
Adults with disabilities require support for daily living and turn to The Arc for advice, companionship and encouragement. The Arc offers monthly gatherings (third Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm) for adults to learn how to advocate for themselves in daily life. HOT Self Advocates is part of a state-wide self-advocate program fighting to stop unfair treatment and advocate for more and better services and supports for people with disabilities to be included in their communities.
